7 Things

Dawn and Katie tagged us to play the "7 things I love most" game. So I'll try to name some things I love that I don't normally talk about (like we all know I love chasing cars, barking, chicken, etc.):

#1. the mail - I jump all over mom and bark wildly when she brings in the mail.
#2. paper towels - the sound of one being torn off the roll sends me into a frenzy
#3. squirt bottle - this often comes out in conjunction with the paper towel
#4. shower - when mom says she's gonna take a shower, I get all excited and jump and bark
#5. shoes - if mom is getting ready to go some where, I attack her shoes (on or off her feet)
#6. purse - when mom comes home, I bark at and try to bite at her purse
#7. lettuce - I go crazy and whine and run around the room when mom gets out salad fixings

Yes, I know these are weird "likes"! Can't explain them - they are what they are!

Mom and I tried all day yesterday to get YouTube to upload a video so we could post about what's been going on. Maybe it will work today!

We were tagged by our friend Lian over at the Knight's Shelties to play the "fifth photo" game:


Open a document or file folder. Click on the fifth folder and then the fifth photo. Post the photo and describe it. Then tag 5 other bloggers.

So here's our fifth photo taken last summer - we're practicing weaves and dad had just gotten a new camera so he was trying out action shots. The photo just makes mom wish for nice weather even more than she already was! We would tag five more people but lots of our friends have already been tagged. But if you're reading this, and you want to play, please do!

Yesterday the temperature went above freezing for the first time in weeks and today was actually 48! A lot of snow melted but not all. And tomorrow's high is supposed to be 25. Short-lived break in the winter weather!

On Wednesday we went to agility practice and had a great time! There was an actual course to run - with numbered obstacles and everything. It gave mom practice with walking a course and remembering it. We ran it twice - the first time was good except that I stopped weaving to smell a small piece of dog fur near the third pole. The second time was awesome - mom was really happy because I ran like I loved doing agility!

Last night was our third advanced agility class - it went pretty well too - but I did some sniffing and some really slow dog walking (I was watching the instructor move out of the corner of my eye while still trying to complete the obstacle - you try it!!) Everyone thought it was hilarious that I was so worried about what the instructor was doing while mom was saying to me, "Um, hello Ricky, mom's over here!" Besides that I hit the broad jump on the way down and thumped my leg pretty hard but shook it off. I also got something in my eye and was teary-eyed for awhile. But I did some good rear crosses, fast-for-me weaves, and chutes with very minimal hesitation.

Today I ran errands with mom which included a trip to my favorite park - we take recycling there to drop it off. We walked around in the snow for about 30 minutes - me on my longline! It was exhilarating to be out there again! We met a shnoodle puppy - cute but too boisterous for me - and two goldendoodles. Is every dog an "oodle" nowadays? Will there someday be a Sheltiedoodle?

I've been tagged!

The other day I was tagged by Johann (http://www.johannthedog.com/The_Dog_Blog.htm) to answer some questions so I'll give it a go!

#1. What was I doing 10 years ago? - Well, I was born on February 15, 2007, so I don't know about 10 years ago. I think my great-grandfather was winning lots of conformation shows at that time. His name was Cruise and he is supposedly pictured in the newest edition of Sheltie Talk.

#2. What are 5 things on my to-do list for today? - Today is almost over so I'll answer for tomorrrow. Poop, pee, eat, sleep, and follow mom around to do whatever she is doing - agility, obedience, tricks, walking, gardening, etc.

#3. Snacks I enjoy: I like almost everything but some of my favorites are - Zuke's minis in salmon or peanut butter, string cheese, chicken jerky, cheerios, apples, carrots, and strawberries.

#4. Things I would do if I were a billionaire: I would save the symphony where my mom and dad work so that they would still have jobs, I would try to help homeless pups in any way that I could, and I would build an agility training center so that mom and my trainer Deb could open up their own school.

#5. Three of my bad habits: barking at people, dogs, and motorcycles that go by my house, jumping on mom when I get overly-excited, and car chasing (although I getting better at that one).

#6. Five places I have lived: I've only lived in two places - the home where I was born and the one I live in now with mom and dad.

#7. Five jobs I have had: going to obedience classes, agility classes, following mom everywhere, guarding the house and yard from everything!, and chasing birds, squirrels and rabbits out of the yard.

That's about it. Hope you are all having a good weekend! Oh, BTW, mom and I practiced with our chute (including making it seem darker by putting a blanket on it) and I had no trouble with it at all. Hopefully I will be fine at our next agility class.
