A New Park

Yesterday we went to a new metro park built just last year! It is smack dab in downtown Columbus so it is truly a "metro" park. I think they took what my dad called industrial wasteland and created this beautiful park. Neat, huh?

We walked by the river and around the wetlands and through the playground and then we went to the dog park. There was no one there so we had the dog park all to ourselves (the way we like it). I got a big surprise there - we did some agility!! There was equipment for big dogs on one side and for little dogs on the other. (Don't worry - mom checked out all of the stuff before she let me on it). The dog park is right next to the interstate and a railroad track but that didn't faze me at all.





We had a great time - it rained a tiny bit but we were lucky - and I can't wait to go back and see more!

A Little Day Trip

Before I tell you about the outing we went on the other day, I have to apologize to Princess Eva - a few days ago, she tagged us to play the 5th photo game and we never did it! I am not a very good blogging-game player. So sorry! I did play this game once before so here is a link to my post about it - Tagged.

On Wednesday mom and dad took me to one of our metro parks - this one is almost an hour away from our house and when we go there, we feel like we have really gotten away from it all. I think I blogged about our trips there before but I must not have labeled them because I couldn't find them. It was a beautiful day - sunny and temperature in the 60s. The leaves haven't come out on the trees yet, so the view through the woods was amazing. The pet trail is a gravelly road (no cars allowed) up to the top of a ridge. We followed it and then followed a road/path off to the side that was probably private property but there was no sign saying "no trespassing!"

I could've walked forever but we eventually had to head back to the car. I sure can't wait to go there again some day!

Metro Park walk

Today was a gorgeous day - high in the low 70s and sunny! Makes you think spring is really here (as long as you don't watch the weather forecast and hear about the rain/snow mix predicted for Monday!). Mom and dad took me on my favorite Metro Park walk. We had a blast and saw lots of cool stuff - dad got photos of some of it:

The first part of the trail is through the woods and then you get out to this prairie area:
Garter snakes were out enjoying the sun - here's a bigger one that I scared out of the path:

And here's a baby one that we almost stepped on (you could hardly see him in the grass!):

There were some birds around that have come back from their winter sojourn - tree swallows, field sparrows and this eastern bluebird:

The pond which rarely has anything of interest in it had some Canada geese, a couple mallards, a couple of ring-necked ducks (not in this photo) and a pair of mute swans:

We were really lucky to be able to get out and enjoy the weather today! Hope some of you did too!

Another metro park pet trail

Grandma complained to me today that I haven't blogged anything in awhile - sorry Grandma! We have been busy with our usual stuff - walks, lessons, agility practice, etc. We tried to get some good photos of me with some pumpkins the other day - but none of them turned out good enough to post. So yesterday we went to one of the pet trails we like - this one is 3.5 miles long and goes through some woods and then around several prairie/meadows and then loops back. It's one of my favorite walks! I am happiest when I can be out ahead of mom and dad but I'm really good about turning around and checking in.

Behind me is a big woods and ravine - it is so pretty in the fall!
