tRicky T-Day!

Yesterday was my 3rd Gotcha Day - the third anniversary of the day I came home to live with my mom and dad! Hard to believe it's already been three years!

Today's tRicky T-Day trick is cop cop backwards. I have been able to do it forwards for awhile but couldn't get the hang of going backwards until recently. It is really difficult to move only your back feet when you are used to using all four feet! Last Saturday, this was one of the tricks I couldn't do at all and what made mom realize that I must've been hurt with the disastrous dogwalk last Thursday. It has been a week now and in the video, I seem to not put my full weight on my left front leg. What we aren't sure about is if I tend to be like that any way (is it normal for me?). All this careful scrutinizing of my every move is confusing! Any way, kikopup just made a great video on how to teach cop cop - we didn't use her method but it looks awesome!

Here's my video:

I have been doing most of my regular activities - walks, running after squirrels in the backyard, etc. and have not limped at all but there is still the issue of me putting all my weight on that left leg. Yesterday we went to open agility practice and just did the chute - which I easily sailed through each and every time, of course! We are probably pulling out of the trial on Saturday just to be safe. My new class with Jenn starts Monday and we really want to be able to go and participate in that (the good part of class is it is less rigorous than a trial and if mom doesn't want to, she doesn't have to have me do the aframe, for instance). Maybe this weekend we can try a couple jumps and see if it bothers me - believe me - I have been doing plenty of "boinging" (like my friend Oreo does) on my own! You would think jumping would not be an issue!

Gotta zoom!

That is such a great trick Ricky! You impress us, as usual!

I know how it feels to constantly be watching legs....Jeff keeps reminding me, "Do you always have all your weight evenly distributed between your two legs?" NO. "Then, why should Oreo have his weight evenly distributed between 4 legs?" Hmmmm. It does drive you crazy.

whooo hooooo happy gottcha day!!!! That was a lucky day for your mom and dad three years ago!

GREAT trick, Ricky you are so very talented, you are a blast to watch!

So sorry about the watching legs things....I feel your pain, you watch a certain amount of time and then you see things and then wonder do I really see that, was that always there, is that serious, is it nothing, it can be so stressful.

That's an amazing trick! Your mom must be such a talented trainer - I can't train tricks for ANYTHING. (And I don't know how I would ever convince Marge to stand on my feet!)

I'm glad you are improving and I'm sure mom will make the best decision for you regarding the trial. Either way, keep us posted!

Ricky that is a super silly thing to be doing, walking on your Mum's feet! I like the music. :) I have a video on my blog too, the Mum is trying to make me put a weird thing in my mouth. Bleh!

Ricky, I love the trick, you are just the best at those things!!
I think you are slowly recovering, which is a good sign.
Is there a trick to stop the boinging???
Eva is a boinger too, she just jumps, sometimes standing on her two feet so much you'd think she was human :)

Great trick Ricky! I sure hope you're getting all better! You'd think if you're boinging, that you'd be all back to normal!

Katie doesn't boing so much. I completely forgot her GOTCHA day, just like I forgot her birthday last year! Her gotcha day was March 31, and I was away. I don't think she minds too much though.

Yay! So glad that you're recovered enough to feel up to doing your tricks again, and even perfecting this one backwards. Very tricky!

I can't wait to hear how your new class with Jenn goes.

I love the trick! What a smart boy.

Layla asked if you could send some of the squirrels in your yard over here, because she's scared most of them away and there aren't any more to chase. She said she'll send you a nice cat as a trade.

Hi Ricky - sorry I haven't been able to visit for AGES! Am just catching up on your posts now...

My human always giggles when we watch videos of doggies doing the "cop" trick - aside from the fact that I wouldn't fit between her legs, she thinks it would be very painful if I stood on her feet!
