....broke her wrist this week. it's hard for her to type one-handed so we won't be blogging much for awhile - or commenting. but we are reading all the posts and either laughing at cute stuff, crying at sad stuff, and most importantly, supporting through all the tough stuff.
Here is our video for week 2 of the Weave Challenge! We did all the same exercises but now with the jump slightly angled. The recall was tough. Mom walked out about 8ft from the end of the weaves and faced me and stood still and called me to weave. The first time I thought it was a regular recall and ran by the weaves. The second time mom moved a little closer and motioned with her arm (like a directed jump in obedience). That made sense to me and I did the weaves. The third time she moved back out 8ft and I did it!
Order of exercises in the video:
1. Run past on right and left
2. Rear cross on right and left
3. Send from right and left
We decided to continue using a target plate as mom's throwing skills are non-existent!
Or as we like to call it, "All Things Are Possible with a Target Plate"!
Kathy and Cricket started a weave challenge this week so we decided to play along because who doesn't need to practice their weave entries! LOL! Here is the video from our first session. Apparently mom needs to go back and read the directions again because she thought she was supposed to lead out each time. Oh well - we rarely work on lead-outs so that was probably good for us.
I'll do anything for a target! :)
Next week we angle the jump a little. And mom is going to throw a food container instead of using the target, I think.
I still prefer to do all of my treibballing in the house, but here is a video of mom working with me outside. I get much better distance from the ball inside. Also I am still a fan of pushing the ball and of skipping the "down" part, so mom tries to reinforce the down first.
My name is Ricky (Covewind Little Ricky, AX,AXJ,CGC) and I am a six year old tri-color Shetland Sheepdog. I do agility and I like to learn tricks too! This blog is about all that and some other stuff as well!
