tRicky T-Day!

We decided to play tRicky T-Day today instead of our usual Thursday since that is Thanksgiving Day and we will be too busy eating to do any tricking!

So you know how I have been struggling to open the door - well, mom had the brilliant idea that I should learn to open a door that is smaller and not as heavy - my crate door! We worked on this a little yesterday and then today we videoed. That crate door is easier for me to move and then I figured out to go in there and lie down on my own! Mom doesn't tell me to go in or to lie down! Neat huh? We edited the video so you don't see all 5 minutes of us working on it but the two clips of me getting the door pulled open on the first try are for real (not sneaky edits). Now how can I learn to pull the door closed once I am in there?

For anyone who is worried, don't be, I will be posting about my class later in the week complete with my demo video! I don't have a lot of new stuff to tell so nobody get too excited....

Gotta zoom!

Hey, great idea to use the crate door to get you going! You did a fantastic job.

I'll be looking forward to reading and watching this week's class wrap-up whenever you have time to post.

Hey, that's so clever!!

Eva is so naive, even when her crate door is a teensy bit open, she doesn't know that pushing it is going to get her out! LOL

That's brilliant! You're such a good boy Ricky!

When I taught Oreo "shut door", he wasn't getting it until we stayed at a hotel, where they had a really small, light weight closet door. Once he figured it out on that door, he could shut ANY door. So, I'm sure Ricky is well on his way now to pulling open all sorts of stuff!

I have always wanted to teach that trick, you guys are inspiring us!!! Ricky you did FANTASTIC, I LOVE IT!!!
ps have to tell you I got all excited when I was watching the new Mary Ellen Bary foudations dvd and she does some exercises on teaching object discrimination and she does it like Jen and you do, with the calling the dogs name if you want them to take the obstacle not in their path, I was having such a hard time picturing that and you explaind it perfectly but when I saw her showing how it worked then all that you had said really made sense. I might not have picked up on all of that if it was not for you guys opening our eyes, your class post always gives me a lot to think about and things to add/make sure we do here. One day I will have to pay you for your instructios, LOL. Thanks!
