Play Class Pays Off

Yesterday was our first agility class of the year and the first one post play class. Ricky had a great time! I did a lot of the food play games - they put you in a completely different mindset - you are really playing with your dog. I know we say agility is a game but there are a lot of rules involved and pressure to perform correctly. So Ricky and I stayed happy playing the food games and it made a noticeable difference in the agility exercises.

Ricky even tugged on my shirt sleeve for a brief time!!! How cool is that?

I am a devoted fan of Denise Fenzi now and highly recommend her classes to everyone!

It seems kinda funny that your have to teach a dog to play....but yes agility is sometimes a bit to strict....it is one of the reasons I decided not to go into with Reilly. He loves doing it but it is just a fun game for him and that how we have always done it....he loves it when we do jumps or weaves or tunnel and then we stop in the middle and have a game of tug or we just chase each other around like crazy :) I can't wait to see how Ricky reacts to the new puppy...he will probably be a little stand offish to begin with...but once that "oh it is someone to play with" mode kicks in you will see such a difference and it will make you laugh endlessly watching them. A puppy really does make an older dog feel young again :)

That's really cool that he was able to play in a different location! Can't wait to take one of her classes.

You're so lucky, Ricky! Eva definitely loves the food play games if she ever had one. So glad that you and your mom had a great time; games is what we need in life, right?
