It is July already? How can that be possible? We are continuing with our lazy summer ways.
A very destructive storm went through here on Friday - over 80 mile per hour winds. Lots of people are still without electricity. Probably a third of our neighborhood. There are huge trees down on top of houses in some cases. We were very lucky. We have power but a branch hit our service line and only one screw is holding it to the house. Hopefully we can get it reattached soon.
When I say we aren't doing any training or anything, I am kind of lying. Since March mom has been really working hard with me to get me to STOP barking at cars at least in our neighborhood. She started to give me a treat each time I would calmly watch the car and then look up at her. Some days I don't bark at all! And some days I still lose my head. Overall I think I am paying more attention to her. The other day we went to the park with the trail that starts out parallel to the big highway and I ignored the road completely. Mom was so happy!!
Besides my morning walk, the other thing that happens every day is mom practices. Even though it has been over a year now since she broke her wrist, it has still been giving her a lot of trouble. So since her work schedule is light, she took advantage of the time and is practicing stretches on the viola, scales and a lot of passagework to try and rehab her wrist/tendon. Just 45 minutes to an hour each day and it seems to be helping! :)
We need some new trick ideas - can anyone help??
Sorry that I don't blog much any more. Not a lot to report. But I will leave you all with a cute photo of me taken a couple days ago. The downtown skyline is in the background but you will just have to take my word for it! :)
Gotta zoom!

Enjoy your summer with your mom, Ricky!
We're glad that all of you are safe and sound too!
I read yesterday that the storm that hit you was actually a "land hurricane" Glad you are ok, and that your house fared well. I feel bad for all those people without power, especially with all this heat.
I'm working on a trick with Oreo that you might find fun...it is a variation of the dog going between your legs and putting their feet on yours (I think you called it cop, cop). I'm trying to get Oreo to face me and put his paws on my feet and walk. I also tried getting him to put his back feet on mine, but that was really hard for him.
So far, Oreo prefers putting both paws on only one foot. I'm debating whether to make that a trick or keep trying to get the two footed version.
Oh yea, and I'm working on barking too! Glad to hear that Ricky is doing so well. That has got to be one of the hardest things to train, because it requires so much self control on the dog's part.
The Blogville Olympics sounds like fun this summer! We are having a blast taking pictures for the different events -- there's still time to enter - they don't start accepting photos until next week. If you are bored -- why not look into entering some events. They say we are all gold medalists -- so, there's no pressure on all us doggie athletes. (Oh, and Mommy thinks its cool that you play the viola!) Also, we had that bad thunderstorm in NJ too over the weekend. Mommy had so many branches and leaves to clean up -- she compared the clean up to when it was Hurricane Irene. Fortunately for us, it came over the weekend -- so Mommy didn't have to take off the next day from work to clean up the mess from the wind and trees.
This summer just seems to be a very lazy one - we are pretty much doing the same thing - which is not much at all :) We still like to see your cute little self Ricky - even if it just a photo :)
We've been working on the barking thing too.
We'd love seeing pictures of you. It would be great to see you in the Blogville Olympics.
You are looking super cute, Ricky! Hope your mom's wrist continues to get better - it can be so frustrating to get over an injury but so glad to hear that her rehab is helping.
Training not to bark be the hardest of all! We is practicing not barking at children and stuff when they is playing at the beach. Mum got that 'Control Unleashed' book but we hasn't tried anything yet since she still just reading the beginning chapters. I saw a show where some dogs be skipping with their peoples. Can you do that one, I bet you'd be good at it.

Good job in training not to bark at cars! A lot of herder breeds seem to have trouble with that. Thankfully, cars are one of the few things my terrierist doesn't bark at.
So glad to hear you guys are okay. I hope the crazy weather everyone is having in the states dies down soon!
Glad that you are all okay after the storms. Those were pretty scary.
What a cute photo. :)
cute photo! glad you're okay after the storm... hmm. new trick...
i love barking at random humans instead and alwiz got rewarded by being shut back into the kennel. what a bummer
Nice to see your very good picture Ricky! You are looking good!! Katie barks at cars too...but if they go on the side road she can sit still and watch them. IF they turn onto OUR street all bets are off! Glad your mom is working on her wrist...bet that hurts still!
Ooo, scary storms! We have a big storm go through here nearly every day now, it seems. So glad you are OK! Cool that you guys are practicing the basics, happy for you!
Boy coming back after a broken bone is so much harder then one would think isn't it! Hard to blog when it doesn't feel much is oing on! I so know where you were coming from on all accounts!! So gad your wrist is getting better and sounds like some exciting training progress fr Ricky!
