Wildflower Walk

Yesterday mom and I took grandma and grandpa on a wildflower walk! I just wanted to keep going but they stopped and admired lots of plants along the way. It was a beautiful day - sunny and in the 70s.

As we began, the trail into the woods was lined with wild geranium.

Mom especially went to see this - toadshade or sessile trillium. This is the only place she knows of to find it.

Some wild blue phlox -

Wild ginger! We had never seen this before! The flower hides near the ground under the leaves and is easy to miss.

Me posing on a log near the creek -

Celandine or wood poppy - not a great photo but another first for mom -

We had an awesome time. However, we were near the end of the trail and mom found a tick climbing up my leg! Then there was one on mom's shirt and we found another on my foot when we got home. Yuck! Still a walk that was well worth it!

Gotta zoom!

What a lovely wildflower walk that you had with your family! Those flowers are so beautiful. I haven't seen any toadshade before and they look interesting. Of course, your picture is the best, Ricky!

Ticks!!! Yucky!!!

Such a beautiful place to walk! I wanna go!

Ticks are bad right now. I haven't found any on me or the dogs, but Jeff had two on him. Blech.

Love all the beautiful flowers--yesterday really was a great day for a walk.

I know what you mean about the ticks. We have already found 3 on the dogs (none attached, thank goodness). This summer is going to be rough!

What a great walk Ricky! Glad you were patient with the Mom and the Grandpaws...they like to look at stuff just like you like to sniff.

Do you think the ticks are worse this year because of the warm winter? I have never seen one up here, but maybe I should pay more attention.

Hi Y'all,

Just stopped by to say "hi" and see how y'all are doing.

Beautiful flowers. Ticks are really bad this year. My Humans spray themselves with Deep Woods Off. I use Multi Advantage, but my Human still checks me for ticks and gets the occasional one off.

Hope y'all are having a great weekend!

Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog

Sounds like a most awesome adventure if we minus off the ticks! Does that wild ginger have ginger you could use-might be a stupid question, but ..., the path looks so pretty and inviting :-).

Sounds like a great time.

The pic of you posing on the log didn't show up for me though, all the rest did but not that one. Bummer.

Looks like a really awesome place to walk! I'm surprised you stayed that clean though, or maybe I'm just used to my low-bodied little dog.

Ricky, love the picture of you standing on the log! Hope you didn't water too many of those nice flowers on the path. Mommy always says to me -- pee on the weeds not the grass!
